Why do this?
A common theme I have seen within organizations is a disconnect between leadership objectives and what is happening on the ground by employees. I have grappled with this disconnect for over 20 years and I think this is still one of the biggest problems organizations face today.
I got frustrated by this early in my career and wanted to learn how to solve it; I began to find how others were able to overcome it. I got insights from many incredible books including; Crucial Conversations, The Goal, and Measure What Matters. Themes emerged like radical transparency, aligned goals, and identifying useful data to make informed decisions. Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) resonated with me as a straightforward and effective method to achieve top down and bottom up alignment.
I focused my study to OKRs and went out of my way to implement them where I could; I immediately saw the power this method has to create better alignment and thus better performance on objectives. I remain passionate about helping organizations mature their culture, prepare for the next stage of revenue growth and enrich all staff while garnering loyalty and camaraderie.
